Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Clinical Support Worker for Ophthalmology at University Hospital Hairmyres. This 36-hour-per-week permanent role supports registered nurses and delivers ward-based patient care in a busy ophthalmology setting.

Open to NHS Lanarkshire staff under Annex 21 training, with Band 3 pay (£29,103 – £31,409) and a 75% training option during Annex 21. NHS discounts and generous pension apply.

Qualifications

• SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience in a caring environment.
• Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assigned tasks to deliver and support direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Assist in the preparation of patients for procedures.
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of patients.
• Assist in the collection of routine urine/blood specimens.
