Job summary

North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join the Estates team. You will provide hands-on first-line maintenance across college campuses to ensure safe, functional environments and excellent service.

The role requires multi-trade skills (joinery, plumbing, heating), a full driving licence, and strong teamwork abilities. It offers a varied workload, safety‑focused duties and opportunities within a supportive Estates department.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in a building maintenance, construction or trade-related discipline with multi-trade skills including joinery, plumbing and domestic-scale heating controls.
• Relevant maintenance experience and ability to work effectively as part of a team and meet deadlines.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Strong communication and customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-line repairs and maintenance across college premises and facilities.
• Undertake joinery tasks including repairs to doors, locks, fixtures, fittings and other building components.
• Complete minor plumbing, heating, wall tiling and drainage repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests raised through the facilities helpdesk system and complete associated documentation.
• Assist with emergency repairs following break-ins, vandalism or damage, including temporary boarding and remedial works.
• Maintain stock levels, order materials and keep records up to date.
