Job summary

The University of Southampton Library Service is seeking a Customer Services Assistant to join a busy, public-facing team at Hartley Library with responsibility for frontline customer support across multiple sites. The role welcomes students, staff and the wider community and offers training and development opportunities within a supportive environment.

This part-time position (26 hours per week) requires strong customer service experience and excellent communication.

Qualifications

Experience in a customer facing role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence using digital systems and learning new tools.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Good organisation skills and attention to detail.
Calm and practical approach when dealing with queries and busy periods.

Responsibilities

Providing frontline customer service in person, online, by phone and email.
Responding to a wide range of enquiries and resolving straightforward queries.
Supporting students and staff to use library spaces, services and systems.
Carrying out administrative tasks and using digital systems to manage enquiries.
Contributing to a safe, well organised and welcoming library environment.
Supporting activities and events where required.
