Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Preston seeks a Consultant in Cellular Pathology to lead histopathology services with a commitment to developing specialist interests in cancer pathology. This part-time, permanent post anchors at Royal Preston Hospital, with a Monday–Friday 9am–5pm pattern and no on-call obligation.

You will join a team of consultants, contribute to service development, supervise staff, and participate in research activities aligned with the Cancer pathway

Qualifications

• Full and specialist GMC registration or eligibility within six months of interview.
• MBChB or equivalent with FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
• UK trained applicants should hold CCT or be within six months of award.
• Non-UK trained applicants must show UK-equivalence to CCT/CESR.
• Evidence of academic excellence in Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Co-operate with Pathology Directorate to ensure efficient laboratory administration.
• Recruit junior medical staff, BMS and secretarial staff with histopathology duties.
• Plan staff rosters and instruct on duties and processes.
• Coordinate with other professionals and health care workers outside hospital.
• Attend Board meetings and manage pathology service resources with colleagues.
