Job summary

Prime Life is seeking a Part-time Laundry Assistant at Ashlands Care Home in Leicester to provide high-quality laundry support for residents. You will handle personal clothing and household items, ensure infection control standards, and maintain a hygienic laundry area.

The role offers training, a caring team and a friendly community atmosphere, with weekend shifts and competitive pay. Prior laundry experience is welcome but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Process residents' personal clothing and household laundry to high standards.
• Ensure items needing thermal disinfection are processed correctly and infection control followed.
• Iron/press laundry and clothing to a high standard.
• Keep laundry, equipment and linen cupboards clean and well-stocked.
• Maintain professional conduct with residents, colleagues and visitors.
• Follow health and safety procedures and report risks.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required by the Manager.

Responsibilities of our Part time Laundry Assistant include:

• Processing residents personal clothing and household laundry to a high standard within the laundry service
• Ensuring that any items that require thermal disinfection are processed correctly and that infection control procedures are strictly adhered to
• Ensuring that all items of personal and household laundry are ironed/pressed to a high standard
• Ensuring that all items of personal clothing and household linen are in a good state of repair and to bring to the attention of the Hotel Services Manager/Care Home Manager when they are not
• Maintaining all areas of the laundry, equipment and linen cupboards in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition, ensuring stock levels are adequate
• Remaining professional and courteous at all times with residents, colleagues, external professionals, family members and visitors to the home
• Following any health & safety procedures required of you and to ensure that any health and safety risks are reported to the Manager immediately
• Any other reasonable duties, as requested by your Manager, to meet the changing needs of the business

What we're looking for in our Part time Laundry Assistant:

To be successful within this role, you will have a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for our residents. Though prior experience as a Laundry Assistant is desirable, this is not essential as full training is provided. Typical, our residents live with age related conditions, life-limiting health conditions and physical disabilities that require dignified support from our care team. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident's individual abilities. Additionally, many of our residents live with dementia and as such an understanding of dementia would be beneficial.

The home has been specially designed to cater to the every need of 37 residents, living with a range of physical and mental health conditions related to ageing that require dignified support from our caring team. Additionally, many of our residents are living with the early and late stages of Dementia. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident's individual abilities.
