Job summary

Prime Life is recruiting a part-time Laundry Assistant for our Lutterworth area home. The role involves processing residents' laundry, ensuring infection control, and maintaining hygiene standards within the laundry services.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as Laundry Assistant is desirable but not essential; full training provided.
• Experience with dementia or understanding of age-related care is beneficial.
• Candidates should be patient, understanding, and respectful of residents' abilities.

Responsibilities

• Process residents' personal clothing and household laundry to a high standard.
• Follow infection control procedures and ensure items are disinfected correctly.
• Iron/press and maintain all laundry to a high standard; report wear and repairs.
• Maintain clean, tidy laundry areas and stock levels; keep equipment in good condition.
• Remain professional with residents, colleagues, visitors and external professionals.
• Follow health and safety procedures and report risks to the Manager.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as requested by management.

This role will be based at Lutterworth Country House, in the heart of Bitteswell near Lutterworth. The home has been specially designed to cater to the every need of 66 residents, living with a range of age related, physical and mental health conditions that require dignified support from our caring team. Additionally, many of our residents are living with early onset and advance stages of Dementia. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities.

Prime Life offer free transport links for applicants living within Leicester, with daily transport running from our central location to the home in time for the start and end of your shifts!

Responsibilities of our Laundry Assistant include:

• Processing residents personal clothing and household laundry to a high standard within the laundry service
• Ensuring that any items that require thermal disinfection are processed correctly and that infection control procedures are strictly adhered to
• Ensuring that all items of personal and household laundry are ironed/pressed to a high standard
• Ensuring that all items of personal clothing and household linen are in a good state of repair and to bring to the attention of the Hotel Services Manager/Care Home Manager when they are not
• Maintaining all areas of the laundry, equipment and linen cupboards in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition, ensuring stock levels are adequate
• Remaining professional and courteous at all times with residents, colleagues, external professionals, family members and visitors to the home
• Following any health & safety procedures required of you and to ensure that any health & safety risks are reported to the Manager immediately
• Any other reasonable duties, as requested by your Manager, to meet the changing needs of the business

What we’re looking for in our Laundry Assistant:

To be successful within this role, you will have a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for our residents. Though prior experience as a Laundry Assistant is desirable, this is not essential as full training is provided. Typically, our residents live with age related conditions, life-limiting health conditions and physical disabilities that require dignified support from our care team. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities. Additionally, many of our residents live with dementia and as such an understanding of dementia would be beneficial.
