Job summary

Prime Life in Lutterworth is seeking a Laundry Assistant to support residents at the home in Bitteswell. You will handle residents' clothing and household laundry to a high standard while following infection control and safety procedures.

Training is provided, with opportunities for progression and a DBS is funded. Shifts are part-time (19.25 hrs per week) with transport links from Leicester and a staff-friendly environment that values dignity and care for residents, including those living with

Qualifications

• Candidates should demonstrate a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for residents.
• Prior laundry experience is helpful but training is provided.
• Dementia awareness is beneficial to support residents effectively.

Responsibilities

• Process residents' personal clothing and household laundry to a high standard.
• Ensure items requiring thermal disinfection are processed correctly and infection control is followed.
• Iron/press laundry items to a high standard.
• Keep laundry areas, equipment and linen stores clean and stocked.
• Maintain professional and courteous conduct with residents and staff.
• Follow health and safety procedures and report risks to the Manager.

Make a difference every day and give back to your community! This role will be based at Lutterworth Country House, in the heart of Bitteswell near Lutterworth. The home has been specially designed to cater to the every need of 66 residents, living with a range of age related, physical and mental health conditions that require dignified support from our caring team. Additionally, many of our residents are living with early onset and advance stages of Dementia. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident's individual abilities.

Responsibilities of our Laundry Assistant include:

• Processing residents personal clothing and household laundry to a high standard within the laundry service
• Ensuring that any items that require thermal disinfection are processed correctly and that infection control procedures are strictly adhered to
• Ensuring that all items of personal and household laundry are ironed/pressed to a high standard
• Ensuring that all items of personal clothing and household linen are in a good state of repair and to bring to the attention of the Hotel Services Manager/Care Home Manager when they are not
• Maintaining all areas of the laundry, equipment and linen cupboards in a clean, tidy and hygienic condition, ensuring stock levels are adequate
• Remaining professional and courteous at all times with residents, colleagues, external professionals, family members and visitors to the home
• Following any health & safety procedures required of you and to ensure that any health and safety risks are reported to the Manager immediately
• Any other reasonable duties, as requested by your Manager, to meet the changing needs of the business

What we're looking for in our Laundry Assistant:

To be successful within this role, you will have a genuine caring nature and a desire to make a real difference for our residents. Though prior experience as a Laundry Assistant is desirable, this is not essential as full training is provided. Typically, our residents live with age related conditions, life-limiting health conditions and physical disabilities that require dignified support from our care team. It is essential that candidates for this role are therefore patient, understanding and respectful of our resident's individual abilities.
