Job summary

St Helens Borough Council is recruiting a part-time Domestic Assistant for Kershaw Day Support Centre to provide person-centred care and support to older people, including those living with dementia, learning and physical disabilities. The role includes aiding the Cook in food preparation and serving, and assisting with cleaning and laundry across the centre.

The post covers a 20-hour week, typically within 9.00am–2.00pm, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to cover the Cook when they are away.

Qualifications

• Assist the Cook with preparation, cooking and serving food.
• Cover the Cook when they are on annual leave or sick.
• Keep the Kitchen and Activity Rooms clean to a high standard.
• Wash cooking utensils, crockery and laundry tasks as required.
• Follow health and safety and data protection policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Cook with preparation, cooking and serving food.
• Cover the Cook when they are absent from work - annual leave/sickness.
• Ensure the Kitchen area is cleaned to a high standard.
• Ensure Activity Rooms and toilets are cleaned to a high standard.
• Washing cooking utensils, crockery, pans etc.
• Laundry duties - washing tea towels, cloths etc.
