Job summary

St Helens Council is recruiting a 20-hour Domestic Assistant at Kershaw Day Support Centre to provide person-centred care and support to older people, including those living with dementia, learning and physical disabilities.

The role involves working in the main kitchen alongside the Cook, covering the Cook when absent, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness across the kitchen and activity areas, Monday to Friday, 9.00am–2.00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Cook with preparation, cooking and serving food.
  • Cover the Cook when they are absent from work - annual leave/sickness
  • Ensure the Kitchen area is cleaned to a high standard
  • Ensure Activity Rooms and toilets are cleaned to a high standard.
  • Washing cooking utensils, crockery, pans etc.
  • Laundry duties - washing tea towels, cloths etc.
  • To complete relevant training specific to the job role.
  • To follow instructions and operate in a safe and hygienic environment
  • To comply with the Council's Health and Safety Policy and associated safe working procedures and guidelines.
  • To comply with the Council's Comprehensive Equality Policy and ensure it is implemented with the service area of the post.
  • To comply with the Council's Information Management Framework (including Data Protection Policy, Code of Practice, and Social Media Policy)
  • To comply with the Council's Code of Conduct, a fundamental aspect of which are "The 7 Principles of Public Life", and to conduct oneself with the highest standards of conduct that they require.

We are recruiting to a 20-hour Domestic Assistant post at Kershaw Day Support Centre, where we provide person centered care and support to older people including those living with dementia, learning and physical disabilities.

The post will cover working in the main kitchen assisting the Cook and in the general areas of the building.

There will be a requirement to cover the Cook's post when they are absent from work.

The Centre is open Monday-Friday and you will be required to work 4 hours a day at times between 9.00am-2.00pm.
