Job summary

HC-One Ltd. is seeking a compassionate Kitchen Assistant to join our care home team. This part-time role involves assisting with meal prep, serving nutritious meals, and maintaining high kitchen hygiene.

You will work under the direction of the Chef, support stock rotation, and help staff ensure every Resident receives warm, respectful service daily. We welcome candidates with some kitchen experience and a willingness to train towards an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience and a real passion for helping others.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation, or willingness to work towards it.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Participate in safeguarding training and related learning.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers).
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Show new team members how to use kitchen equipment safely.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless after busy periods.
