Job summary

Marks Sattin (UK) Ltd is seeking a Payroll & Pensions Officer for a reputable company in Flixton, Greater Manchester. The role is 29 hours per week, across 4 or 5 days, school term time only plus 2 weeks, with hybrid working.

The successful candidate will ensure colleagues are paid accurately, handle payroll changes, manage pension contributions, liaise with HMRC, and collaborate with People and Finance teams to drive continuous improvement. Salary £24k–£25k with a generous pension.

Qualifications

• Payroll and pensions experience.
• Experience of tax codes, deductions, SMP and SSP.
• Payroll systems experience.
• A continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all colleagues are paid accurately in line with contractual timeframes.
• Process payroll changes (leavers, contract changes, expenses) and monthly payroll checks as required.
• Raise payroll errors and inaccuracies with the payroll provider via the appropriate routes.
• Ensure appropriate statutory deductions are made by sending relevant information to the payroll provider.
• Check shared parental leave and maternity leave schedules are accurate.
• Work with the wider People Team and Finance Team to continuously improve.
• Update any employer pension contribution rates with the payroll provider.
• Liaise with HMRC on taxation issues.
• Attend monthly contract management meetings with payroll provider.
