Job summary

HRGO Recruitment is seeking a Part-Time HSE Manager for a Yeovil site. The role focuses on maintaining HSE systems, delivering training, and driving risk reduction across health, safety, and the environment. 3–4 days per week with site-based responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have NEBOSH certification, manufacturing experience, and strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation. This role requires independent work and the ability to influence on-site behaviours.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) required.
• Experience in manufacturing/production/industrial environments preferred.
• Good knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and its on-site application.
• Experience completing risk assessments and leading investigations.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the site's HSE systems, policies and compliance documentation.
• Provide competent HSE advice to site leadership, supervisors and operational teams.
• Plan and complete site audits, inspections and risk assessments.
• Lead incident/near-miss investigations, identify root cause and track corrective actions.
• Produce and deliver HSE training, briefings and safety communications.
• Maintain statutory records and support ongoing compliance requirements.
• Act as the point of contact for regulators, insurers and auditors as required.
• Support environmental management activities, including waste controls.
• Compile HSE performance updates and recommendations for management review.

This is a practical, site-facing role focused on legal compliance, risk reduction and continuous improvement across health, safety and environmental standards. What you will be responsible for Own and maintain the site's HSE systems, policies and compliance documentation Provide competent HSE advice to site leadership, supervisors and operational teams Plan and complete site audits, inspections and risk assessments (including reviews and updates) Lead incident/near-miss investigations, identify root cause and track corrective/preventative actions to completion Produce and deliver HSE training, briefings and safety communications Maintain statutory records and support ongoing compliance requirements Act as the point of contact for external stakeholders where required (e.g., regulators, insurers, auditors) Support environmental management activities, including waste controls and monitoring of site environmental performance Compile clear HSE performance updates and recommendations for management review What we are looking for Essential NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) HSE experience in a manufacturing/production/industrial environment (agriculture, food/feed, or similar preferred) Good working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation (and ability to apply it on-site) Proven experience completing risk assessments and leading investigations Confident communicator with the ability to influence day-to-day behaviours and standards Able to work independently, prioritise workload and manage competing site needs Competent with Microsoft Office Desirable IOSH membership Environmental compliance/management experience Experience delivering HSE training sessions/toolbox talks Background in feed/food manufacturing or agricultural operations Package Flexible part-time working (hours agreed to suit site requirements and candidate availability) Salary £18 - £23 per hour Pension and pro-rated annual leave entitlement Full time employee 31 days (inc BH)- pro rata for PT This is a permanent position.
