Job summary

Michael Hall School in Forest Row is seeking a part-time HR Assistant to deliver a professional, confidential HR service across the school and support the employee lifecycle. You will work 16 hours per week during term time and beyond as needed, reporting to the Principal and collaborating with SLT and managers.

The role covers recruitment, onboarding, DBS/safeguarding, payroll liaison, absence management and HR administration while ensuring compliance with data protection and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Excellent IT skills with Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent administrative and organisational ability.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise a busy workload.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment duties from application to onboarding and leaver processes.
• Coordinate shortlisting, interviews and candidate communications.
• Ensure safer recruitment procedures and statutory guidance.
• Organise staff induction and professional development.
• Assist with DBS checks and safeguarding requirements.
• Input absence data into MIS and liaise with payroll.
• Maintain SCR and confidentiality; assist with HR administration.
• Support attendance, probation reviews, and training.
