Job summary

SOCOTEC Building Control Limited is seeking an experienced HR Adviser to provide practical, commercially focused advice to managers across multiple sites. The role handles a varied caseload of employee-relations matters, applying UK employment law and company policy while supporting organizational change.

The post offers hybrid working where feasible, with regular travel between SOCOTEC locations and occasional overnight stays. A full UK driving licence is required due to site visits.

Qualifications

• Practical experience advising managers and independently managing employee-relations cases.
• Sound knowledge of UK employment law with ability to provide clear, practical advice.
• Ability to assess risk, exercise judgement and constructively challenge managers.
• Strong communication, organisation and case-management skills, with handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Manage routine and moderately complex employee-relations cases (absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance).
• Provide practical, legally informed advice, attend formal meetings and challenge managers where appropriate.
• Prepare accurate case documentation and support occupational-health referrals and organisational change.
• Coach managers on HR policies and effective people-management practice.
• Review workforce information, prepare monthly KPI reporting and support career-pathway and succession activity.
• Collaborate with HR Partners and specialist teams, escalate complex/high-risk matters.
