Job summary

SOCOTEC UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced HR Adviser to join our Central HR team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity cover across multiple sites. You will manage a varied caseload of routine and moderately complex employee-relations matters, applying UK employment law and company policy, and supporting managers with practical, legally informed advice.

Hybrid working may be available; regular travel across SOCOTEC locations is required, and a full UK driving licence is

Qualifications

• Hands-on advisory case-management experience.
• Sound knowledge of UK employment law and ability to give clear, practical advice.
• Ability to assess risk, exercise judgement and challenge managers.
• Strong communication, organisation and handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Manage routine and moderately complex employee-relations cases (absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance).
• Provide practical, legally informed advice, attend formal meetings, challenge managers when needed.
• Prepare accurate case documentation and support occupational-health referrals and organisational change.
• Coach managers on HR policies and people-management practices.
• Review workforce information, prepare monthly KPI reports, support career-pathway and succession activities.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other specialist teams; escalate high-risk matters.
