Job summary

Socotec UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced HR Adviser to join the Central HR team across multiple sites, providing practical, commercially focused advice to managers and handling a caseload of absence, performance, and disciplinary matters. The role involves partnering with HR Business Partners and supporting organisational change.

The position requires regular travel between SOCOTEC locations, with occasional overnight stays and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience advising managers and independently managing ER cases.
• Sound knowledge of UK employment law and able to provide practical advice.
• Ability to assess risk and challenge managers.
• Strong communication, organisation and case-management skills.
• Willingness to travel between SOCOTEC locations with occasional overnight stays.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent desirable.

Responsibilities

• Managing routine and moderately complex employee-relations cases.
• Providing practical, legally informed advice and attending meetings.
• Preparing case documentation and coordinating health referrals and organisational change.
• Coaching managers on HR policies and people-management practice.
• Reviewing workforce information and preparing monthly KPI reporting.
• Collaborating with HR Business Partners and specialist teams.
