Job summary

Sodexo at Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Chef to deliver high-quality meals for patients and staff. You’ll manage your own kitchen section, ensuring taste, nutrition and presentation meet exacting standards.

You’ll lead a small team, adapt menus, and uphold food safety and hygiene, with flexible shifts 7am-3pm or 12pm-8pm. Sodexo provides benefits and a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Chef, ideally at Sous Chef or shift-lead level, within a high-volume catering environment.
• Strong culinary skills and a passion for fresh cooking, quality ingredients and creating varied menus.
• Experience leading, supporting and developing a kitchen team, with the ability to motivate others.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, allergens, special diets and food labelling.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail under pressure.
• Good communication with patients, staff, colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Positive, flexible approach with commitment to high standards and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook fresh, high-quality meals for patients, staff and hospitality services with variety and nutrition.
• Support development of fresh, seasonal menus and cater to dietary requirements.
• Lead and support the kitchen team, deputising for management when needed.
• Ensure food prep, cooking and storage meet food safety and hospital standards.
• Manage stock, ordering, portion control and waste within budgets.
• Complete kitchen checks, records and documentation for audits.
• Collaborate with wider teams to enhance patient and guest dining experience.
