Job summary

Yolk Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a forward-thinking SME in Cardiff to appoint a commercially minded Financial Controller on a part-time basis, 2 days per week.

The role leads the financial reporting function, partners with senior stakeholders, and shapes strategic planning while developing a small finance team. You will work with Xero and oversee budgeting, forecasts, and performance analysis.

Qualifications

• Qualified or QBE with strong Financial Controller experience.
• Experience in an SME or growing business with ownership of the finance function.
• Strong in management reporting and business partnering.
• Commercial mindset with the ability to translate financial information into actionable insight.
• Experience with B2B customers, ideally across Europe.
• Comfortable using Xero.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day finance function.
• Produce accurate and insightful management reporting and financial information.
• Work with senior stakeholders to provide commercial insight and support decision-making.
• Partner across the organisation, challenging performance and identifying opportunities.
• Support strategic financial planning and development of the business.
• Manage budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
• Improve financial processes, controls and reporting.
• Develop and coach a Finance Assistant.
• Support relationships with B2B clients across Europe and overseas markets.
• Work with Xero to maintain and develop efficient finance processes.
