Job summary

CMR Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Part Time Accountant for a growing SME book distributor. You will own the finance function, work closely with Directors, and stay hands-on with daily financial operations while providing strategic oversight.

This 3 days per week role covers financial management, payroll, tax, compliance, and commercial support, with an emphasis on accuracy, controls, and timely reporting to drive business decisions.

Qualifications

• CIMA qualified or equivalent experience.
• Senior accounting or finance management experience.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and management reporting knowledge.
• Experience liaising with auditors and external advisers.
• Payroll, tax planning and credit control experience.
• Proficient with Excel and financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the company's finance function.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and reporting; develop budgets.
• Provide management accounts and ad hoc reporting to Directors.
• Lead tax planning and liaise with auditors; manage annual audit.
• Oversee payroll via external provider; supervise part‑time finance staff.
• Monitor credit control, working capital and funding arrangements.
• Support Directors with financial modelling, forecasting and planning.
• Ensure HR administration and Health & Safety policies are maintained.
