Job summary

Novus is hiring an English Teacher at HMP Hindley near Wigan. The role is permanent, 0.5FTE (18.5 hours per week) and part-time.

You will deliver engaging lessons to learners in a prison education setting, aiming to inspire and support their progression. A teaching qualification and Level 2 Literacy/Numeracy are required, with DBS checks and safeguarding at the core.

Qualifications

• Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
• Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
• Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
• Have experience of achieving quality targets
• Have experience producing accurate and timely reports
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrate an ability to motivate and enthuse learners
• Have excellent organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
• Demonstrate positive team working
• Track record of effective teaching in delivering in subject (Desirable)
• Track record of working effectively with people presenting with challenging behaviour (Desirable)
