Job summary

Eastern Education Group is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support lecturers and students at West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds. The role is a casual contract offering up to 15 hours per week (Tuesday and Friday).

You will assist with practical sessions, keep kitchens clean and stocked, and uphold high standards of food hygiene and safety. Experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting is desirable; training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in kitchen, catering or hospitality is desirable.
• Basic understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to follow instructions and keep a clean, organized workspace.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare and set up practical kitchen sessions.
• Clean and organise kitchen areas and equipment.
• Support students during practical activities.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety.
• Assist with safe storage, labeling and rotation of ingredients, stock checks, waste disposal and ensuring kitchens are ready for teaching.
