Job summary

Co-op Group is seeking a Customer Team Leader in South Shields to run daily store operations, lead a small team, and deliver essential services to the community. You’ll supervise shifts, support tills, and help drive excellent customer service.

You’ll bring leadership, flexibility, and retail experience to a role that emphasizes community engagement, merchandising, and membership growth within a supportive Co-op environment.

Qualifications

• Aged 18+ to authorise age-related sales.
• Experience in retail, merchandising, or team management is welcome.
• Strong leadership and people skills with a flexible, lead-by-example approach.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day running of the store by leading the team on your shift
• Motivate, coach, and support your team to deliver great service and efficient operations
• Work hands-on on the shop floor and tills, supporting daily operations and setting the pace for a team of Customer Team Members
• Support store performance through merchandising, stock accuracy, and HR processes
• Champion Co-op through community engagement and membership growth
