Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is seeking a part-time Physician to provide medical care within Buckingham Correctional Center. The role supports the Doctor’s Office Practice and works with a Nurse Manager to deliver clinical services to inmates.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating illnesses, managing medications, and educating inmates on health self-management. The position emphasizes safety, cost, and efficacy in patient care.

Formación

• Licensed to practice medicine in Virginia
• Extensive knowledge of diagnosing and treating injuries, diseases, and deformities
• Comprehensive knowledge of mental illness and DSM criteria
• Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of practice
• Ability to function effectively in an interdisciplinary treatment team
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsabilidades

• Provide professional medical care and medication management to inmates
• Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost
• Diagnose and treat acute health problems and injuries
• Educate inmates about self-management of illnesses
• Contribute to treatment plans and programs for inmates
• Support nursing staff and work within the health services team
