Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse (PRN) at Deerfield Correctional Center, Southampton, to provide evidence-based nursing care in a correctional setting. The role includes flexible hours not exceeding 29 per week, with coverage as needed across designated facilities.

Responsibilities include nursing assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, plus documentation and coordination with other departments.

Qualifications

• RN license required by Virginia board or compact license.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) through AHA or ARC required on hire.

Responsabilités

• Provide nursing care within adult institutions using nursing process (assessment, planning, implementing, evaluating).
• Deliver 24-hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call triage, medication administration, patient education, and basic life support.
• Document all pertinent information in the health record and maintain confidentiality; interface with other departments as needed.
• Delegate tasks/workload and adjust hours/locations to meet institutional needs; provide coverage as required.
• Focus on correctional nursing and evidence-based practice; assignments to other duties or locations may occur to meet clinical/administrative needs.
