Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a part-time Consultant Histopathologist for the Cellular Pathology department, based at Royal Preston Hospital. The post is permanent, with 4 sessions per week and flexible 8am–6pm hours.

No on-call requirement is expected, and responsibilities include running a comprehensive histopathology service and developing cancer-related subspecialties.

Qualifications

• Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/Good Medical Practice.
• Full and specialist GMC registration (or eligibility within six months).
• MBChB or equivalent qualification.
• FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
• UK-trained applicants must hold CCT or be within six months of award.
• Non-UK trained applicants must show UK CCT/CESR equivalence.
• Desirable: academic excellence in Pathology.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive histopathology service.
• Co-operate with the Pathology Directorate for effective laboratory administration.
• Recruitment and rosters for junior staff, BMSs, and secretarial staff.
• Coordinate with other professionals and health care workers.
• Attend Board meetings to discuss pathology issues and assist in resource management.
• Maintain management responsibility in the department in collaboration with senior staff.
