Job description

Our client, based in a stunning town in North West England, is seeking a committed Consultant specializing in Histopathology for either a substantive or NHS Fixed Term position. This Trust is situated in one of the most beautiful countryside areas of Northern England.

Applicants unable to work full-time for personal reasons will still be considered. If appointed, job modifications will be discussed personally with the Trust in consultation with colleagues.

The successful candidate will join a team comprising 10.35 Consultant Histopathologists, 2 Consultant Haematologists, 4 Consultant Microbiologists, and 2 Consultant Biochemists. The department is recognized for training 4 Cellular Pathology STs and is supported by 1 Senior Clinical Fellow. All trainee posts are approved by the Royal College of Pathologists.

Qualifications and experience required include:

  1. Primary Medical Degree
  2. FRCPath (or equivalent qualification)
  3. Experience in all aspects of histopathology and non-gynae cytology, with opportunities to develop special interests
  4. Registration with the General Medical Council (with a license to practice)
  5. For non-UK trained applicants, evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT

Additional information:

  • The Department of Cellular Pathology is UKAS accredited and participates in external quality assurance schemes in immunohistochemistry, non-gynae cytology, andrology, and core histopathology.
  • There is no out-of-hours commitment.
