Job summary

Thirteen Group is seeking a part‑time Community Engagement Officer (Community Champion) to join our Housing and Communities team for 20 hours per week. Shifts run 2pm–10pm with some daytime weekend work, including a fixed Wednesday half-day and an alternating Sunday/Monday/Friday/Saturday pattern.

You’ll be visible in our neighbourhoods and high‑rise buildings, walkabouts and events, gathering customer insights and strengthening safety, inclusion and connection across communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer or community-facing roles is preferred.
• Experience with community safety, neighbourhood operations, partnerships or social media is helpful but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Be a trusted, approachable presence in neighbourhoods, building positive relationships with customers, community partners, local services and residents’ groups.
• Carry out neighbourhood walkabouts, estate inspections and floor checks within high rise buildings, identifying issues such as fly tipping, damage, safety concerns or untidy communal areas.
• Engage with customers through conversations, drop-ins, community activities and events, helping them access information and services and support to strengthen community pride and social connection.
• Identify and report concerns, including antisocial behaviour, environmental issues and building safety matters.
• Use observation skills to identify issues, gather evidence and help create neighbourhoods where people feel safe and connected.
• Work closely with the Community Champion Lead and Housing colleagues to ensure safe lone-working procedures and clear handovers.
