Job summary

University Partnerships Programme in Plymouth is hiring a Cleaner for a 6-month fixed-term, part-time role (25 hours/week) from 9:30am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday. Salary £16,930.65 per annum. Will clean student accommodation including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and shared spaces.

Experience in similar environments and good communication are preferred. DBS checks may be required; the role involves health and safety responsibilities and potential site coverage at other times as needed.

• Empty waste bins and remove rubbish from flats to bin store areas.
• Make beds and laundered linen handling during summer season.
• Clean internal/external windows and glassware.
• Daily liaison with residents and UPP staff.
• Follow Health & Safety policies at all times.

Job description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Cleaner to join our Plymouth team.

This is a 6 month fixed term part-time position working 25 hours per week from 9.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday. The salary is £16,930.65 per annum.

This role will be responsible for cleaning the designated areas for our student accommodation including bedrooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens and all white goods contained in the kitchens.

This will include:

• Vacuum, spot clean and shampoo carpets, sweep and polish floors and clean stairs
• Wash walls, doors, furniture, radiators, lampshades as appropriate
• Empty waste bins and remove rubbish from flats to bin store areas
• During the summer season only: Make beds, including stripping and changing sheeting collection of laundered linen from store, bag and pack laundry for collection
• Clean internal and external windows, where applicable
• Clean and wash glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils, as appropriate
• Daily liaison with the residents, Residence Managers and associated UPP staff
• Act in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and practices at all times

We are looking for you to already have experience of cleaning in a similar environment and have great communication and organisation skills, along with an attention to detail and the passion to do an excellent job.

You will need to have a good conversational standard of the English language and an ability to read and interpret our Health & Safety guidance. You will also be prepared to work (with notice) at other sites if required and additional hours when the need arises, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends. Offers of employment are subject to satisfactory vetting, inclusive of employment referencing covering the past three years and you may be subject to additional vetting and barring checks to ensure your suitability for the role, which could include completing a basic DBS.
