Job summary

Recruitment South East Ltd is seeking a reliable and diligent school cleaner to maintain a clean, safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors. The role requires an enhanced DBS (update service) and a valid driving licence as there is no public transport access.

You will perform daily cleaning tasks across classrooms, corridors, toilets and offices, replenish consumables and ensure safe handling of cleaning products in line with COSHH procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, corridors, toilets, offices and other areas as required.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and polish floors and surfaces to high standards.
• Empty and sanitize bins; dispose of waste safely.
• Replenish soap, towels, toilet rolls and other consumables.
• Clean windows and glass surfaces where accessible.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and report faults or shortages.
• Follow COSHH procedures and health and safety rules.
• Secure areas after cleaning; coordinate with facilities team.
• Assist with occasional deep cleaning during holidays.

Overview

To ensure that the school premises are maintained in a clean, safe, and hygienic condition to provide a welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. To carry out the professional duties of a teacher in accordance with Claremont s policies under the direction of the Principal.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, corridors, toilets, offices, and other areas of the school as required.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Empty and clean bins, ensuring all waste is disposed of safely and appropriately.
• Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet rolls, and other consumable supplies as needed.
• Clean windows, glass panels, and mirrors where accessible and safe to do so.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is kept in good working order and report any faults, damage, or shortages.
• Follow all school health and safety procedures, including the safe handling, use, and storage of cleaning products in line with COSHH requirements.
• Secure areas appropriately after cleaning to help maintain site security.
• Report any damage, hazards, or maintenance requirements to the Facilities Manager.
• Assist with occasional deep cleaning during school holidays or when required.
• Support the wider facilities team in maintaining consistently high standards of cleanliness throughout the school site.
• Coordinate and provide handover notes to the evening cleaning team where necessary.
• Liaise with the maintenance team to monitor and coordinate cleaning stock levels.
