Job summary

Placr Recruitment is seeking a Part-time Charity Accountant / Finance Manager for a well‑established charity. The role combines day‑to‑day financial operations with monthly reporting and donor‑funded project accounting.

You’ll work closely with the CEO and Trustees, ensuring robust controls, accurate management accounts and compliant financial practices. A qualified accountant or charity‑finance experienced professional is preferred.

Qualifications

• Qualified or qualified by experience with strong charity finance knowledge.
• ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent experience in SORP and charity accounting.
• Experience managing restricted/unrestricted funds in charities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ledgers (nominal, purchase, sales) in Xero and reconcile.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with Charity SORP and FRS 102, and fund accounting.
• Manage restricted/unrestricted funds and donor restrictions.
• Coordinate budgeting and annual reforecasts with budget holders.
• Produce monthly reports and commentary for executives and trustees.
• Oversee cash flow, treasury activity and supplier/payroll processes.
• Assist with year-end audit and liaise with external auditors.
• Payroll processing and HMRC compliance from April 2027.
