Job summary

Trial Balance Consulting is assisting a well-established not-for-profit in Truro to recruit a Finance Manager on a permanent part-time basis with flexible hours. The role anchors financial control, reporting and coordination with directors and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring strong end-to-end accounting experience, ideally in charity accounting, and be able to deliver accurate management accounts, VAT, payroll, and balance sheet oversight while supporting the organisation’s

• Payroll processing and pension administration experience.
• VAT preparation and filing; annual audit liaison and external reporting.

• Act as the finance lead for the charity, overseeing day-to-day accounting activity.

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been re-assigned by a long-standing client, a well-known and respected not-for-profit organisation based in Truro, to help in their search for a new Finance Manager. The role is offered on a permanent and part-time basis with flexible working hours.

This is a position of pivotal responsibilities within the organisation and one that works closely with the directors and other stakeholders. Working as part of a small but passionate team, this will be a broad and varied role with the following responsibilities:

• Acting as the finance number one for the charity, overseeing day-to-day accounting activity
• Production of management accounts for presentation with commentary to the board
• Bank reconciliations
• Cashflow and income monitoring
• Monthly payroll operations to include employee pensions
• Preparation and maintenance of annual and monthly balance sheets
• VAT preparation and submission
• Liaison with external auditors and stakeholders
• Liaison with all departments on financial issues.

The successful candidate will of course have strong experience in all aspects of end-to-end accounting, with a track record of achieving results. However, just as important is having the right personality and commitment to the organisation’s values. This isn’t a role that will suit someone who is looking to ‘go through the motions’, this is a role which requires a candidate who is going to be able to make a real difference. Previous experience gained in a charity accounting environment would be highly advantageous, but this employer recognises that a commercially astute Finance Manager with exposure gained in the private sector will also have a lot to offer here.
