Hays Accountancy & Finance is partnering with a well-established property company to recruit a part-time Assistant Accounts Manager for their Cheltenham, Gloucestershire office. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a small, close-knit team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. The role is varied and hands-on, involving transactional finance duties, supporting cash flow management, query resolution, and monthly accounting routines. The position offers flexible hours, between 15–20 hours per week, ideal for a finance professional seeking a part-time, permanent role where they can add value.
Your new role
Your main responsibilities include maintaining accounting records using Sage 50 across multiple companies, bank reconciliations, purchase ledger processing, credit control, monitoring cash balances and flow, raising invoices for service charges, rent, insurance, and recharges, supporting financial queries, assisting with insurance renewals and claims, and participating in ad-hoc projects. You will also support the Finance Manager with quarterly transfers to SIPP providers, annual service charges, month-end processes, and building relationships with suppliers and clients. Additional financial administrative tasks will support company growth.
What you'll need to succeed
Applicants should have experience in a similar role, preferably AAT qualified or qualified by experience, with strong communication skills to build internal and external relationships. A proactive attitude, ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and problem-solve are essential. Attention to detail, proficiency with financial systems and MS Excel, and a team-oriented mindset are required. Experience in the property sector, with small/medium-sized businesses, and familiarity with Sage 50 is advantageous but not essential.
