Job summary

Newcastle University is seeking a motivated Speech and Language Therapy assistant to join the North East Trust for Aphasia (NETA) Support Centre. You will support the Speech and Language Therapist, facilitating groups and assisting individuals, with training provided.

This 0.2FTE role requires excellent communication and organisational skills and offers the chance to contribute to activities for people with aphasia in a supportive Centre environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in an assistant role within healthcare or similar.
• Experience of working with adults in a supportive role and/or in a group setting.
• Awareness of strategies to support communication.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills; ability to manage time and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Directly work with people with aphasia in small and large groups at the Centre.
• Develop and produce activities and materials for weekly sessions.
• Provide day-to-day administration support (attendance records).
• Contribute to planning discussions for future sessions and groups.
• Work with volunteers where appropriate.
• Prepare rooms and equipment for activities and purchase consumables as required.
• Provide additional administrative support as needed.
