Job summary

GSL Education is currently recruiting qualified Teaching Assistants to work across our partner schools in the NE4 area of Newcastle. The role offers day-to-day, short-term and long-term opportunities with immediate start dates.

You will support class teachers, provide 1:1 and small-group assistance, help pupils access the curriculum and follow safeguarding policies. A Level 2 or 3 TA qualification is essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a recognised equivalent.
• Experience supporting children or young people within an educational setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Have a good understanding of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
• Be committed to supporting children's learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with the delivery of engaging learning activities.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils where required.
• Help pupils access the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning.
• Support pupils with varying abilities and additional needs.
• Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement.
• Help pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
• Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
