Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join the Adult Team. This full-time post (37.5 hours) supports SALTs across two sites: South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital, assisting in clinics and therapy sessions for adults with speech, language and swallowing difficulties.

You will develop experience, work with a large team, and benefit from excellent supervision, training and opportunities to progress

Qualifications

• Experience of working with people with speech, language or swallowing difficulties.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team.
• GCSEs or equivalent; relevant SALT support qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist SALTs in improving communication and swallowing skills for adults.
• Carry out therapy programmes for specific groups, e.g. Parkinson's, dysarthria.
• Monitor stock levels of equipment and maintain clinics.
• Dispense AAC/SVR equipment to patients as prescribed.
• Support running of clinics, including instrumental clinics.
