Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to join the SEN (16–25) Team in Newcastle upon Tyne for a 9–12 month maternity cover. This full-time locum role offers term-time-only working, Monday to Friday, starting in September.

You will assess and support 16–25-year-olds with SEN, develop therapy plans, and work with families and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated care.

Qualifications

• Degree or recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Experience working with young people with SEN, ideally aged 16–25.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage a caseload of young adults aged 16 to 25 with SEN.
• Develop and implement personalised therapy programmes to support communication development.
• Work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care.
• Provide training and guidance to educators and carers to support language development.
• Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, assessments, and progress.
• Contribute to team meetings and provide specialist input to enhance the SEN service.
