We are seeking a keen and outgoing individual to work within our company in the exciting role of part-time Animal Keeper!
As predominantly a member of our mammals team, you will actively take part in the general day-to-day husbandry of the animals, delivering animal care of the highest standard, and providing support for the Avian Team when needed. You will also be required to confidently deliver educational animal talks daily; conduct animal encounters and behind-the-scenes experiences to visitors, VIPs and other parties; and contribute to a positive visitor experience by engaging with and answering questions from visitors during the normal course of your duties.
The position is offered on a part-time basis but not restricted to 3-4 days per week, as opportunities to work additional or fewer days per week can also be considered. Staff receive 28 days holiday per annum pro rata (including bank holidays), have the opportunity to join a workplace pension scheme, and benefit from various discounts across the Stonham Barns Park shopping and leisure complex. A shift pattern runs on a fixed 4-week rota, with employees getting one weekend off per 4 weeks, which can be subject to change.
In terms of qualifications & experience, the successful applicant will hold a relevant animal-related qualification, have at least 1 year of experience within a zoological collection, be a confident public speaker, and possess strong initiative and communication skills supported by a passion for animal welfare and conservation.
