Job summary

Elmside care home in Hitchin is seeking an Activities Co-ordinator to enhance residents' wellbeing through a varied programme of activities. You will work with colleagues, families and volunteers to keep residents engaged, independent and fulfilled.

The role is permanent, part-time (16.5 hours/week) with a pay rate of £13.77 per hour. You’ll join a supportive team at Elmside, within MHA, and may travel to other locations for training.

Qualifications

• A genuine passion for improving the lives of older people through meaningful engagement.
• The ability to design and deliver group and individual activities that motivate and inspire participation.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• The confidence to use IT tools and support residents in doing so.
• The ability to work flexibly, as part of a team and independently.
• A positive attitude towards training, personal development, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and deliver a programme of activities based on residents' social needs.
• Promote wellbeing through creative, engaging, and inclusive activities.
• Support residents in accessing IT options to stay connected with family and friends.
• Liaise with staff, relatives, volunteers and community groups to coordinate events.
• Keep accurate records of activities, attendance and outcomes for care plans.
• Review and adapt activities to meet changing needs and preferences.
• Assist with induction of new staff as appropriate.
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of activity resources and operate within budget.
