The Role
We are looking for a Part-Time Academy Doctor on a consulting basis to provide weekend matchday medical cover and evening clinics at our Hale End training complex, predominantly working with our U9-U16 age groups. The purpose of the role is to optimise player availability, maximise physical performance and minimise the risk of injury.

Your day-to-day
- Provide matchday medical cover - you'll diligently provide medical cover across weekend home matches in the Foundation and Youth Development phases (U9-U16), and you will undertake a thorough check of all pitch-side emergency medical equipment prior to kick off, to complete the pitch-side medical equipment checklist to aid operational and stock management purposes
- Cover evening clinics - you will step in to support with evening clinics as requested by the Lead Academy Physiotherapist for the Foundation and Youth Development phases (U9-U16)
- Communicate critical information - you'll cascade all weekend injury updates and medical issues in a handover to the rest of the Academy Medical team on the day of the match cover
- Offer additional medical resource for tours - you will be prepared to offer cover for Youth Academy tours / tournaments within the UK and internationally, when deemed necessary for a doctor to be present to cover all relevant medical provisions for our Academy's players and staff
- Uphold our high standards- you'll diligently ensure accurate recording of medical notes on our club's electronic medical records system and you will develop and implement medical best practice policies and procedures relating to the medical care of our Academy players
- Collaborate with the wider team - you will take an active role in CPD activities within our Medical department and you'll play a key role as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Prioritise player development- you will provide medical input and insights into player profiles and progress reports, ensuring a holistic view of the athlete's development, including injury history and illness
- Champion our values - you'll passionately role model our club values and behaviours and contribute to the overall success of the Academy Medical and Performance department
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment - you will proactively follow and enforce our club's policies on safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and equality, diversity and inclusion
- Act as a trusted ambassador for club - you will ensure the confidentiality of all sensitive club-related information, including medical records and internal discussions, in line with our policies and legal requirements
What We Are Looking For
- Credible expertise - you're a proud medical practitioner of good standing on the General Medical Council (GMC) register with evidence of successful on-going appraisal and revalidation under the GMC and you hold appropriate medical indemnity insurance
- Qualified in Sports Medicine - you hold an MSc / Diploma in Sports Medicine and a valid Level 5 FA ATMMiF pitch side trauma qualification
- Experience in elite sport - you've got a track record of working within elite senior and adolescent sport
- Best-in-class clinical reasoning skills - you're well versed in dealing with common adolescent sporting injuries as well as having good general practice experience
- Evidence of CPD - you're able to show evidence of on-going CPD in the major speciality of your work portfolio
- Excellent communication skills - you embody humility, discipline and respect and you're able to build impactful relationships with a range of colleagues, and you thrive when you're collaborating with multiple stakeholders in a team environment
- Forward-thinking approach - you take a proactive and flexible approach to achieving successful outcomes and you demonstrate a growth mindset and are comfortable receiving feedback
