Job summary

Venture Recruitment Partners is partnered with a growing construction business to recruit an Accountant to join the finance team in the UK. The role is office-based and hands-on, covering management accounts, reconciliations, month-end reporting and general financial operations.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will own key balance sheet areas, support month-end and year-end processes, and drive improvements within a busy finance function. Candidates must have right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or actively studying toward one of these qualifications.
• Experience in an accounting or finance role with good understanding of P&L and balance sheet accounting.
• Strong experience with balance sheet and bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
• Experience with purchase and sales ledgers, invoicing, payment runs and general accounting processes.
• Excel skills including Pivot Tables, SUMIFS and XLOOKUP.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key balance sheet areas, including reconciliations, controls and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Support the Finance Manager with month-end, year-end, management accounts, P&L reporting and financial analysis.
• Prepare and review balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Support day-to-day finance operations including purchase and sales ledgers, invoicing, payment runs and general accounting.
• Manage corporate card reconciliations, ensuring transactions are accurately coded and documented.
• Provide financial information and analysis to support commercial and management decision-making.
• Contribute to process, control and system improvements to strengthen the wider finance function.
