Job summary

Cardiff Council’s Parks Services is seeking a proactive Parks Open Spaces Volunteer Co-ordinator to grow and strengthen the city’s volunteering opportunities. You’ll lead programmes across parks and green spaces, focusing on horticultural and environmental improvements, while engaging volunteers, schools and groups.

You’ll recruit, support and train volunteers, coordinate outdoor activities, and promote biodiversity, climate resilience and high-quality public spaces across Cardiff.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with volunteers and community groups.
• Knowledge of horticulture, biodiversity or environmental management.
• Experience planning and delivering practical outdoor activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational skills and record-keeping.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Ability to motivate others and work in a team.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of volunteering opportunities across Cardiff parks.
• Recruit, support and develop volunteers, community groups and schools.
• Design and coordinate activities including planting, habitat improvement and events.
• Promote and maintain Green Flag sites and biodiversity initiatives.
• Work with operational teams and stakeholders to ensure high-quality spaces.
