Westleton Parish Council is seeking to appoint a
Parish Clerk to support the smooth running of the council’s affairs.
This is a part-time role working from home, ideal for someone organised, self-motivated, and community minded. The Clerk is the council’s proper officer and principal adviser, ensuring that business is conducted lawfully and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing agendas, attending and taking minutes of council meetings
- Advising councillors on statutory and procedural matters
- Managing council finances, including preparing the budget, monitoring
- expenditure, CIL application and liaising with the internal and external
- auditors
- Publishing notices, handling correspondence, and maintaining council
- records
- Acting as the primary contact for parishioners and external organisations
Desirable Attributes:
- Strong administrative and financial skills
- Familiarity with local government or a willingness to learn (training can be
- provided)
- Good written and verbal communication
- Proficient in basic IT (email, Word, Excel)
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
