  • Westleton Parish Council – Westleton, Suffolk - Remote working
  • Salary Negotiable
  • 10 hours per week
  • 10 meetings per year (usually held in the evening)
  • Part Time

  • Required as soon as possible


Westleton Parish Council is seeking to appoint a Parish Clerk to support the smooth running of the council’s affairs.

This is a part-time role working from home, ideal for someone organised, self-motivated, and community minded. The Clerk is the council’s proper officer and principal adviser, ensuring that business is conducted lawfully and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing agendas, attending and taking minutes of council meetings
  • Advising councillors on statutory and procedural matters
  • Managing council finances, including preparing the budget, monitoring
  • expenditure, CIL application and liaising with the internal and external
  • auditors
  • Publishing notices, handling correspondence, and maintaining council
  • records
  • Acting as the primary contact for parishioners and external organisations


Desirable Attributes:

  • Strong administrative and financial skills
  • Familiarity with local government or a willingness to learn (training can be
  • provided)
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Proficient in basic IT (email, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
