Job summary

Athersley South Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic Parent Support Advisor to work with families, carers and pupils to tackle underachievement and enable access to educational opportunities. The role includes home visits, organising parent training, safeguarding duties and developing community links.

The PSA will collaborate with staff, be an approachable point of contact for parents, and participate in wider ECM Trust networks to promote positive outcomes for children.

Qualifications

• Be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline.
• Experience of working within the community, particularly with children and their families.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and ability to be a safeguarding lead.
• Ability to have challenging conversations with parents while staying professional.
• Excellent communication skills including ICT use.
• Commitment to multi-agency working.

Responsibilities

• Carry out home visits and organise events for parents.
• Provide training for parents as part of engaging families with learning opportunities.
• Work as designated safeguarding lead within school.
• Act as liaison for parents and staff and support pupils’ access to education.
• Support the school’s broader community involvement and collaborate with ECM Trust networks.
