Job summary

Athersley South Primary School is seeking a proactive Parent Support Advisor (NJC Grade 6) to work with families to improve educational access and outcomes. The role includes home visits, parent training, and events, with a focus on safeguarding and partnership with staff, pupils and the wider community.

The post requires NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, strong communication skills, and a commitment to multi‑agency working. It is a 31‑hour term‑time contract with DBS checks and safeguarding duties.

Qualifications

• Be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline.
• Experience of working within the community, particularly with children and their families.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and either been, or possess the desire to be, a safeguarding lead.
• Ability to have challenging conversations with parents while remaining professional and approachable.
• Excellent communication skills including the ability to make good use of ICT.
• Strong commitment to multi-agency working.

Responsibilities

• Carry out home visits, organise events and training for parents.
• Carry out assessments e.g. Early Help Assessments.
• Work as a safeguarding lead within school and liaise with staff and parents.
• Engage with families to break down barriers to learning and participation.
• Contribute to the school’s involvement in the wider ECM community.
