Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Parent-Infant Therapist to assess and deliver specialist interventions for babies and families, including training in Video Interaction Guidance. Qualifications

• Identify own CPD needs with Clinical Lead and/or Clinical Supervisor.
• Maintain a current professional portfolio and participate on programmes of personal development and training, identified in performance reviews.
• Maintain all professional registration requirements.

Responsibilities

• To ensure high quality specialist parent-infant relationship mental health assessment and interventions for babies, preschool children and their families.
• Provide or provide access to a range of psychotherapeutic interventions in accordance with individual assessed need and plan/ evaluate approaches within the MDT.
• Deliver therapeutic input to parents and infants referred to the team.
• Work as a co-therapist with other members of the team.
• Manage a defined caseload and undertake case management responsibilities within the caseload.
• Identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the infant and others per hospital procedures.
• Initiate and build working relationships with infants, children, parents, carers and families.
• Liaise with agencies regarding individual care packages and promote awareness of parent-infant mental health issues.
• Provide consultation and training on parent-infant emotional health to professionals from various services.
• Deliver VIG (Video Interaction Guidance) training with parents and infants; assessment through reports and recordings.
• Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment.
• Complete requirements relating to data collection within the service.
• Participate in PaIRS duty rota for urgent triage of parents and infants in line with care protocols.
• Engage in/ deliver supervisory activities, including consent, recording and review of live clinical work.
• Keep coherent records of clinical activity and use these records in decision making.
