Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bideford. This fixed-term role runs for 9 months, with 35 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, including Sundays, and a rotating shift schedule. Training and a red van are provided, with overtime available.

You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers, working outdoors in all weathers and following routes that may change with demand.

Qualifications

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 35 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:30/17:30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Bideford Delivery Office.

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
