Job description

IDEX Consulting are working with an established financial planning business to recruit a Paraplanner to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with Financial Planners, produce high-quality suitability reports and contribute to delivering tailored financial advice, with scope to get involved in wider investment and compliance activities. Whether you're looking to build on your existing paraplanning experience or work towards a future Financial Planner position, this role offers the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

Working alongside a nominated group of Financial Planners and reporting to the Paraplanning Supervisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring advice is well-researched, appropriately documented and compliant with regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Suitability Reports: Researching solutions, analysing client circumstances and preparing clear, accurate and compliant suitability reports in line with agreed recommendations.

  • Technical Research: Reviewing existing investments and arrangements, considering asset allocation, risk profiles, charges, performance, taxation and suitability against client objectives.

  • Client Reviews: Preparing annual suitability review letters and researching ad-hoc withdrawal requests to ensure advice remains appropriate.

  • File Preparation & Compliance: Maintaining accurate client records, checking supporting documentation and ensuring files meet regulatory and internal standards.

  • Financial Planning Support: Working closely with Financial Planners to gather information, undertake research, prepare comparisons and support cash flow analysis.

  • Investment Research: Assisting the Paraplanning Supervisor and Investment Committee with research relating to the firm's central investment proposition.

  • Team Collaboration: Liaising with Client Services, providers and colleagues to ensure cases progress efficiently and clients receive a high standard of service.

What's on Offer?
  • This is more than a traditional report-writing role. You'll have the opportunity to broaden your exposure to different areas of the business, including investment research and compliance-related activities.
  • For those with longer-term ambitions to become a Financial Planner, there is also potential to develop towards that career path.
  • You’ll be joining a team where continued professional development, technical knowledge and effective collaboration are valued.
About You

We're keen to speak with organized, methodical and proactive individuals who take pride in producing accurate work and delivering a high standard of service.

You'll ideally have:

  • Achieved, or be working towards, the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (CII preferred, but not essential).

  • Experience in a Paraplanning or technical financial planning support role.

  • A good understanding of suitability reports, financial planning processes and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong research, analytical and written communication skills.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

  • The confidence to work independently, ask questions and collaborate with Financial Planners and colleagues.

  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping up to date with regulatory and industry changes.
