The primary focus of the role is to work within the surgery as part of the General Practice Clinical team. The post holder will be working alongside a team of Allied Health Professionals, directly under the supervision of a GP. The post holder will work as part of a self-organising autonomous team to provide high quality and timely care to registered patients. The Paramedic will be responsible for a number of areas such as minor illness and injury assessment, health promotion, as well as supporting the management team in reviewing of clinical policies. The role also includes holistic assessment, diagnosis, treatment and referral of patients within the individuals level of competence, supported by agreed protocols and agreement of the Partners.

Our multidisciplinary setup includes 3 GP Partners, 1 Paramedic Partner, 5 Salaried GPs, 2 Paramedics, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a skilled nursing team, a Health & Wellbeing Coach, Physiotherapist, Clinical Pharmacist, Midwife, and an outstanding non-clinical support team.

On a typical day, you will have your own patient appointment list and be responsible for managing your own workload, including appropriately triaging patients. As an autonomous Primary Care Paramedic, you will support the duty team as part of a collaborative environment with GP and Paramedic Practitioner supervision. You will see patients face-to-face or contact them by telephone during minor illness and injury clinics, providing treatment and making necessary referrals to other members of the primary or secondary healthcare teams. You will undertake community visits as an autonomous practitioner, supported by the duty team. This includes supporting the care of complex patients in their own homes, including those in nursing or residential accommodation, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
