Paralegal - Public Law & Human Rights, Newcastle upon Tyne

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Public Law and Human Rights team in Newcastle, working alongside solicitors mainly within the education sector. The team operates nationally, assisting private clients with appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal, the Education Health and Care Plan process, and liaising with local authorities regarding any issues. The work includes engaging with schools, colleges, and some legal aid cases.

Our department is ranked as a leader in its field by Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500, with many solicitors individually recognized. We handle high-profile, cutting-edge cases and have a national reputation for test cases, with teams across ten offices nationwide.

About You

This role suits a well-motivated individual interested in Public Law & Human Rights. The ideal candidate will:

• Hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
• Be willing to travel to the Newcastle office twice a week.
• Have some paralegal or public law experience, especially in the relevant areas (other legal experience is a plus).
• Possess excellent client care skills and a sensitive, understanding approach to clients’ needs.
• Have strong analytical and organizational skills for thorough documentation.
• Be IT literate with great attention to detail.
• Be capable of working independently and as part of a team to achieve the best outcomes.
• Knowledge of legal aid systems is desirable.
