Our client in St Albans is looking for a Paralegal to work within the Private Clients sector of this prestigious firm of solicitors.
Duties
You will need to have a background in Private Clients to be considered for this role. Day-to-day duties include:
- Taking client instructions and progressing the matter file under the Team Leader's instructions. This may include drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, and dealing with the administration of Estates and Trusts.
- Providing a courteous and efficient service to clients.
- Ensuring that work sent to clients and related parties is correctly prepared in accordance with the firm's standards and instructions.
- Observing the Solicitors Code of Conduct and the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Reporting complaints from clients or third parties to the Head of Department (HOD).
- Producing fees in accordance with the set targets.
- Opening and closing client files following standard procedures, including online money laundering checks.
- Answering the telephone, meeting clients without appointments, and taking messages.
- Liaising with clients as instructed.
- Maintaining Lawyers' diaries and scheduling appointments.
- Organising meetings and refreshments as needed.
- Managing outgoing post and emails.
- Maintaining up-to-date internal and client files.
- Undertaking typing duties for fee earners.
- Collating work from outsourcing companies and preparing it for dispatch.
- Coordinating with the Accounts Department for timely and accurate accounts administration.
- Inputting client data and potential client contacts.
- Performing administrative duties like photocopying and archiving files.
- Maintaining a tidy office environment and reporting IT or equipment faults.
- Working as part of a team, including secretarial and telephone cover.
- Following instructions from lawyers on client and administrative matters.
- Handling initial client queries from walk-in visitors.
- Updating and tracking legal documents such as wills and deeds.
- Introducing clients to lawyers in different departments when appropriate.
In return, the company offers a salary of between £25,000 - £27,000 per annum.
